Planetarium show producers Jay Heinz, Richard McColman and I determined the only way to be sure a planetarium mix sounds right is to bring the mix studio gear to the dome, play it back and make adjustments. Planetarium acoustics are wildly different then a controlled studio. Imagine mixing inside of a metal water tower that has long decay times and standing waves that are focused in various hot spots in the room.
